SpeedQuizzing at The Carlton Tavern

SpeedQuizzing is back at The Carlton Tavern on Friday 14 August, part of their regular Friday night run. If you've never come across it, it's a bit different from your standard pub quiz. Instead of scribbling answers on a piece of paper and handing them in at the end, you use a keypad to enter your answers in real time. It's faster, it's a bit more competitive, and you find out where you stand as you go rather than waiting until the very end of the night.

Linford Gardener hosts the evening, and there are prizes and vouchers up for grabs for the winning teams. It's a team game, so you'll want to gather a few mates together before you head in. Teams can be up to eight people, which gives you plenty of room to pool your knowledge across different rounds. If you're on your own, it's easy enough to find a group to join on the night.

The tavern is over on Acomb Road in Holgate, and the quiz runs every Friday at 8:30pm, so if you're not free on the 14th, there's always the next one to look forward to. It's an over-18s night, so make sure everyone in your party is of age before you set off. Entry is £1 per player, and with teams of up to eight, it's a cheap enough way to spend a Friday evening with a few friends. The Carlton Tavern is at 140 Acomb Road, Holgate, York, YO24 4HA.
