A Regency themed garden party with live music, a dance workshop, afternoon tea and a talk on Jane Austen era customs.
Middlethorpe Hall & Spa is hosting a Regency-themed garden party on Friday 25 September, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. It's built around the world of Jane Austen, with the hall's gardens presented as the kind of setting that inspired her novels. The afternoon opens with a Pimm's cocktail reception, and guests are encouraged to turn up in Regency dress, taking their inspiration from Austen and the era.
The programme runs through the afternoon with music, a talk, and a dance workshop. Alec Robinson provides Regency-inspired live music, while Lottie, founder of Dance the Past, leads both a talk on Regency customs and a dance workshop. There's also a guided garden walk led by Head Gardener Andrew Leighton, so you'll get to see the grounds with someone who knows them inside out.

It's a few hours of stepping back into the early nineteenth century, with the music, the dancing, and the garden walk all tied to the same period. If you're into the Austen era, it's a good chance to spend an afternoon in it rather than just reading about it. The whole thing runs from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at Middlethorpe Hall & Spa on Bishopthorpe Road, YO23 2QB, and tickets are £79 per person.
