An evening of live oompah music, German-inspired food and German and Belgian beers, with keg tapping on Thursday.
Spark:York is kicking off Oktoberfest on Thursday 1 October, with a party that starts at 5:00pm. The night opens with an official keg tapping, and from there it's a full evening of live oompah music, German-inspired food and a wide selection of German and Belgian beers. If you're after the live music, that's the night to be there — the party itself is exclusively on Thursday.
On the food side, there's locally made bratwurst served with pretzels and beer cheese dip, and rich beer cheese mac 'n' cheese. The beer selection pulls from Germany and Belgium, so there's plenty to choose from beyond the usual. It's the sort of spread that works as well for a proper sit-down as it does for something to graze on while you're standing around.
One thing that's worth keeping in mind is that while the party is a one-night thing, the special beers and the pop-up menu stay on the menu all weekend long. So if you can't make it on Thursday, you can still get the food and the beers on Friday or Saturday — you just miss the live oompah and the keg tapping.
