Ministry of Science Live comes to the York Theatre Royal on Wednesday 31 March 2027, playing in the Main House. It's a science show for families, and it arrives here straight from London's West End, brought to York by the UK's favourite science team.
Rather than a lecture, the show takes an anarchic approach to science communication. The focus isn't just on the facts, but on the scientists, engineers, and inventors who have shaped the modern world. The team describes it as 100% Educational, 200% Entertaining, 300% Explosive, and 400% Fun — and the list of demonstrations backs that up. You'll see 20ft liquid nitrogen clouds, exploding oxygen and hydrogen balloons, fire tornados, hydrogen bottle rockets, ignited methane, and a self-built hovercraft. It's the kind of thing that works as well for the kids as it does for the adults in the room.

If you're planning to bring the whole family, there are a few different ways to book. Unrestricted view tickets start at £20, and there are family discounts: three tickets for £55, which is £5 off, or four for £65, which takes £15 off the total.
