Invisible runs at Friargate Theatre on 24 and 25 July, a comedy drama that looks at how older women are perceived in society and the friendships they build around that. It's a frank, fast-paced piece of writing that doesn't shy away from the 'invisibility' that often comes with age, and it gets there with a good deal of laugh-out-loud humour.
The story follows five women who meet every Saturday morning, just as they have for years. This time, though, they've come with a plan. A year later, their lives have changed irrevocably, and the play works its way through the fallout. Along the way it touches on sisterhood, motherhood and the lasting effects of how we're brought up, as well as what it's like navigating modern life as an older woman. It's a celebration of the bonds of friendship, and it finds its warmth in the relationships between the women rather than in any grand gestures.

It's a two-night run, so you've got the choice of Friday or Saturday. Tickets are £16.50 for general admission, and the show is at Friargate Theatre in York.
