York Dungeon transforms its Torture Room into a tattoo studio for one night only, with exclusive designs by local artist Emma Swanton and donations to Merlin's Magic Wand charity.
York Dungeon is turning its Torture Room into a working tattoo studio for one night only on Wednesday 21 October. It's part of their Halloween season, and the room only stays open for a few hours, so it's a one-shot thing rather than a proper pop-up. Six people will walk away with exclusive Dungeon-inspired designs by local artist Emma Swanton of Swan Tattoos.
The night also doubles as a celebration of the venue's new show, Mother Shipton: The Great Prophetess, so the tattoos sit alongside the new production. The designs are drawn from the Dungeon's own themes, and they're being done by Swanton, who runs Swan Tattoos here in York. With only six spots available, it's a small run, and the designs are exclusive to the night.
There's a charity angle to it too. The money raised goes to Merlin's Magic Wand, a charity whose work duty manager Mark Mattinson called "truly inspiring".
