Gallery Tales returns to York Art Gallery on Wednesday 28 October, the final session of a series that ran throughout the summer. It's an interactive storytelling adventure put on by Story Craft Theatre, and this particular date is part of the October half-term programme.
Each session is built around a different tale, with the stories taking their lead from the artwork on display at the gallery. The idea is to spark curiosity, creativity and joy in the youngest visitors, and the series is recommended for children aged 2 to 8, who need to be accompanied by an adult. While the summer dates ran alongside Making Waves: The Art of Japanese Woodblock Print, this half-term edition draws from Turner, Wedgwood & Beyond: Inspired by Flaxman.

There are two sessions on the day: the first runs from 10.15am to 11am, and the second from 11.30am to 12.15pm. Tickets are £7 per child and booking is required. That price includes general admission to York Art Gallery, so you can wander through the wider permanent collections before or after the storytelling. If you're staying on, the Sketch café has a couple of deals running: a hot drink and cake for £6, or lunch and a drink for £12. The gallery is at Exhibition Square, York, YO1 7EW.
