A late-night horror and comedy experience for adults only, featuring theatrical shows, special effects and storytelling in five themed areas.
Dungeon Lates is back at York Dungeon on Saturday 17 October, the after-dark version of the attraction that's strictly for the over-18s. If you've done the daytime tour, this is the late-night sibling: they describe it as darker, scarier and full of twists, with more jumps, ruder jokes and a bit more edge to the humour. It's the same mix of theatre, special effects and storytelling, just pushed a step further for an adult crowd.

The tour takes you through five themed areas, and you're part of the action rather than just watching from the sidelines. You'll meet the Vikings, step into a plague house with the doctor's assistant, sit in on a séance, face a courtroom and end up in the torture chamber of York Castle, with a highwayman making an appearance along the way. It's a guided walk through the city's darker side, and the whole thing lasts about 75 minutes.
Because it's an adults-only night, the actors can lean into the more explicit side of things, so it's definitely more for the horror and dark comedy crowd than for a casual family outing. They warn it's not for the faint-hearted, which is fair enough given the torture chamber and the jump scares. It's a good shout for a Saturday night if you're into that sort of thing.
Tickets are for the over-18s only, and you'll need to bring ID to get in. The tour runs on Saturday nights through October 2026, so if the 17th doesn't work, there are other dates to pick from.
