An outdoor silent disco under the stars in the York Museum Gardens, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
Day Fever is bringing a silent disco to York Museum Gardens on Saturday 21 August. It's an outdoor one, set up in the gardens, so you'll be dancing under the stars rather than inside a club. If you've never done a silent disco before, the basic idea is that everyone wears wireless headphones and switches between different channels, so you can pick your own music and dance at your own pace while the rest of the garden stays quiet around you.
Day Fever is the name behind it, and they're the ones running the whole thing. The gardens are usually a place for a slow wander or a bit of sitting around, but for this, they're being turned into a dance floor for the night. It's a bit of a shift in how we usually use the space, and since it's outdoors, the weather will play its part in the evening.
Doors open at 6.30pm, which gives you plenty of time to get in and get your headphones sorted before things really get going. It's on a Saturday, so it's an easy one to build a night around. The gardens are right in the city centre, on Museum Street, so you're not far from everything else York has going on that evening.
