A monthly fundraising curry and quiz night at Parvin Indian Restaurant, with proceeds supporting the Joseph Rowntree Theatre.
Parvin Indian Restaurant in Haxby is hosting another Curry And Quiz Night on Monday 14 September, starting at 7pm. It's a monthly fixture for the restaurant, and the night is a fundraising effort for the Joseph Rowntree Theatre, so your ticket goes toward supporting the theatre as well as filling your plate. Between them, these nights have raised more than £175,000 for local charities.
Parvin itself has a fair bit of history behind it. It started back in 1992 as a small family-run takeaway on Beckfield Lane in Acomb, before moving to Haxby in 2009. They've built a name on fresh, quality ingredients, and if you're not around for the quiz nights, they run a Sunday 'eat as much as you can' buffet for £14.90. The restaurant also picked up The Press Best Curry House title in 2024, so the food is a proper part of the draw here, not just a side to the competition.

If you've never been, the format is exactly what it sounds like: a curry and a quiz, run together in the same evening. It's one of those regular community things that brings people together for a bit of food and some friendly rivalry, with the proceeds going to the Joseph Rowntree Theatre. Tickets are £24.00, and it kicks off at 7pm on Monday 14 September at Parvin Indian Restaurant in Haxby.
