An evening of Chinese banquet, quizzing and live entertainment to raise money for the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal, hosted by York's Town Crier.
The Civic Party are hosting their Quiz and Dine at Red Chilli on Tuesday 28 July, from 6:30pm to 10pm. It's billed as their ultimate quiz night and their first official charity fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal 2026-2027. The Lord Mayor of York, Councillor Margaret Wells, is the one inviting people along, and the whole evening is hosted by York's own Town Crier.
The food is a shared Chinese banquet served to the table, with vegetarian options available, so you can graze through the meal with whoever you've come with. Once the eating is sorted, the night moves on to the quiz, live music and a charity raffle. Tables are set for four and are flexible, which makes it a bit easier to pull together a group of friends or colleagues for the evening.

It's a fairly straightforward setup: a banquet, a quiz, some live music and a raffle, all in one go. The Town Crier keeps things moving, and the Lord Mayor's Charity Appeal is the cause behind it. If you're looking for something to do on a Tuesday night that combines dinner with a bit of competition, this is a good shout. Tickets are £25 per person, and the whole thing runs from 6:30pm to 10pm at Red Chilli, 21 George Hudson Street, YO1 6JL.
