Sir Kevin Sinfield visits York to be welcomed at Bishopthorpe Palace during his final fundraising endurance challenge for MND.
Sir Kevin Sinfield is coming to Bishopthorpe Palace on Monday 28 September, the second day of his 7 in 7 MND challenge. The whole thing kicks off on 27 September, and day two sees him arrive at the Palace from Shiptonthorpe, near Market Weighton. It's the final fundraising endurance challenge in a series that's become something of a fixture for him.
If you've followed his work, you'll know the context. Sinfield, the former Leeds Rhinos captain, has been raising funds and awareness for people affected by motor neurone disease for years. This particular challenge is inspired by his late teammate Rob Burrow, who died in 2024 after living with the disease for four and a half years and wore the number 7 shirt. The 7 in 7 is the seventh of seven challenges, and it's the one that brings him here to York.
He's not starting from scratch, either. Sinfield has already completed six endurance challenges and has raised more than £11 million for MND causes. For this one, he's teamed up with kit supplier Oxen Sports to sell 7,777 pairs of limited-edition sports socks through the 'Sock It To MND' campaign. He's also been awarded the title of Sir Kevin.

So, the timeline: the challenge starts on 27 September, and day two finishes on Monday 28 September when he arrives at Bishopthorpe Palace from Shiptonthorpe. It's the final leg of a long road, and the Palace is where he'll be welcomed in York.
