White Rose Hobbies: Trains, Kits and RC in York

If you enjoy model trains, RC vehicles or building kits, White Rose Hobbies, LLC is a specialist shop worth knowing in York. It is at 4401 W Market St, York, PA 17408, and combines a physical shop with an online store at whiterosehobbies.com. Founded in 2008, the business has a broad range of hobby products rather than focusing on just one type of modelling. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, and it is closed on Sundays.

The main focus is scale model trains, with HO, N, O, HOn3, On30, S, G and Z scales available. Stock includes brands such as Athearn, Atlas, Bachmann, Lionel, Märklin, MTH, Walthers and Rapido. There is also a sizeable selection of RC vehicles, including cars, boats, planes and drones. White Rose Hobbies is described as one of the largest Traxxas dealers on the East Coast. Plastic model kits cover aircraft, military vehicles, cars and figures, with brands including Airfix, Bandai/Gunpla, Hasegawa, Italeri, Meng, Miniart, Moebius, MPC and Trumpeter. Paints and modelling supplies are another strong point, with customer reviews particularly mentioning the range of Vallejo paints. The shop also carries Warhammer, LEGO, Robotime-ROKR-Rolife and sensory products in its Speks section. Prices vary by product; examples online include Speks items from £7.95 to £24.99, converted from the listed US prices, while free shipping is offered on orders over $100.

There is more to the shop than shelves of kits. Visitors can see indoor model train displays, and the WRH Crawler Park provides a 7,100-square-foot outdoor course for RC crawlers. From May to October, the business also runs oval and on-road RC racing through WRH Asphalt Track Oval & On Road Club Racing. It offers in-store collection, wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance, card and mobile NFC payments, and a BON Loyalty Rewards Programme. White Rose Hobbies also buys trains and collections, although larger collections need an appointment. Reviews give it around 4.6 out of 5 from 565 reviews, with praise for the selection and facilities alongside some comments about stock availability, shipping times and customer service. That mix makes it a useful stop for hobbyists who want to browse in person, while the online shop is practical for checking specific items first.
