Greenwich Letterpress is a small greeting card and stationery shop at 15 Christopher Street in Manhattan’s West Village, between Waverly Place and 6th Avenue. It is run by sisters Amy Swanson and Beth Salvini, third-generation printers from New Jersey, with Amy’s husband Pete helping with the wholesale side. Although this post is aimed at York readers planning a trip, it is worth being clear that the shop is in New York, not York. The nearest subway stops are Christopher St–Sheridan Sq. on the 1 line and W. 4th St–Washington Sq., served by the A, B, C, D, E, F and M lines.

The main focus is letterpress greeting cards, stationery and paper goods, alongside small gifts such as stickers, pins, printed pencils and candles. The sisters design and print much of the range in-house using two 75-year-old Heidelberg Windmills, a C&P Pilot and a Vandercook 4T. The presses run on 100% wind energy. Custom work is available for wedding invitations, business cards and personalised notes; invitation sets start at £440 for 100 pieces, while everyday greeting cards start at around £4. Online examples include sticker sheets from roughly £6.50, stationery sets at about £230 and a Snoopy lapel pin at around £23, converted from the listed euro prices, so the exact amount may vary with exchange rates.
Inside, expect a compact shop with a playful, colourful selection that changes regularly. The sticker wall is a frequent customer favourite, and the range includes designs from independent makers as well as Greenwich Letterpress’s own work. The shop’s newer flat-printed cards allow more colour, texture and layered artwork than traditional letterpress pieces. Reviews give it around 4.7 out of 5, with customers often mentioning the charm and variety, while also noting that it can feel cramped and become busy. A weekday or quieter visit may be more comfortable if you want time to browse.
Greenwich Letterpress is open Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6pm; it is closed on Mondays. The shop can be reached on 212-989-7464. Its online store offers free domestic US shipping on orders of $50 or more, although international shipping to Europe and Canada is currently paused. For anyone interested in paper design, personalised stationery or unusual cards, the shop offers plenty to look through, but its small size and New York location are useful things to know before making a special trip.
