If you are after a pumpkin this autumn, the Great Yorkshire Pumpkin Patch is the obvious place to start. It sits at Monk Park Farm on Green Lane in Bagby, near Thirsk, just off the A19 between Thirsk and Easingwold, and the whole thing is spread across 84 acres of North Yorkshire countryside. The 2026 season runs from Saturday 3 October to Saturday 31 October, with daytime sessions from 10:00 to 17:00, so there is plenty of time to pick a date before Halloween.

The main draw is the pumpkin field itself, where thousands of pumpkins of all shapes and sizes are waiting to be picked straight from the ground. Once you have your pumpkin, there is an indoor carving barn with tools provided, so you can do the messy work there rather than at home. Beyond that, the farm fills the day with carnival games, timber axe throwing, a giant bale mountain to climb, live shows, costumed characters and themed photo backdrops. There is also a farm train and barrel rides, though the barrel ride costs extra, and the outdoor adventure playgrounds come with climbing frames, slides, zip wires, sandpits and jumping cushions. For younger children, there is a Little Thirsk indoor role play village.
Animal encounters are a big part of the day too. You can meet, pet and feed Highland cattle, alpacas, pigs, goats, sheep, rabbits and guinea pigs, with animal feeding sessions running daily. When you need a break, the Hungry Monk cafe and food court does hot and cold food, drinks and treats, and there are picnic areas if you would rather bring your own. For a quieter visit, the Patch Only ticket is available on Saturday 17 October, and for those who want to go after dark, the Adults-Only Pumpkin Nights fall on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October, with a family-friendly pumpkin night on Friday 5 November. The farm carries on well past Halloween, with Fireworks at the Farm and The Great Yorkshire Christmas running from Saturday 28 November to Sunday 23 December.
On price, full farm admission includes a £3.50 voucher to put towards your pumpkin. The Patch Only tickets, which cover the pumpkin field, entertainment, carnival games and a pumpkin voucher but not full farm admission, are £6.95 for adults and children, and £3.00 for under-ones. An essential companion ticket is free with a valid Nimbus Access Card or Monk Park Farm Nimbus Registered ID showing a +1 symbol, with the ID number entered at checkout. For getting around, the main farm buildings, indoor play barns and tearooms have gravel and paved access, though the grass paths in the pumpkin field can be uneven in wet weather, and there is free, spacious on-site parking. Thirsk railway station is about ten minutes away by taxi. The farm has picked up some recognition along the way, including a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award in 2025 and the NFAN Jim Keetch Small Farm Attraction of the Year in 2026.
