If you have never been to a Brazilian steakhouse, Casa Brazilian Rodizio on Micklegate is a good place to start. It is family-run, owned by Eduardo Caetano, and the whole thing is built around the rodizio style: chefs carve premium grilled meats fresh at your table, and you decide when to keep them coming. It has a 4.7-star rating on Google from more than 2,200 reviews, and it picked up some serious awards last year, including being named the number one casual dining restaurant in the UK and seventh in the world in the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice Best of the Best 2025.

The system is simple. You get a traffic-light card on your table: flip it to green when you want more meat and red when you need a break. Alongside the meat, there is an unlimited salad bar with somewhere around 36 to 40 hot and cold dishes, plus unlimited seafood. The meat line-up runs to about 17 or 19 cuts, with picanha, bottom sirloin, rump steak, caramelised pork belly, peri peri chicken, gammon, leg of lamb and cinnamon pineapple among them. The dinner menu adds another 11 options, including flank steak, fillet, chilli beef, top sirloin, chicken wings, chicken hearts and pork collar. There are vegetarian versions too, with cannelloni and moqueca.
Price depends on when you go. Lunch runs Friday to Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00, last seating at 15:30, and is £24.95 a head for the salad bar and hot food buffet. Dinner is daily from 16:00 to 22:00 at £36.95, which adds those 11 extra cuts to everything you get at lunch. There is a cheaper Super Sunday and Monday dinner at £32.95, and a happy hour Tuesday to Thursday from 16:00 to 18:00 for the same price. Seafood options are £24.95 at lunch and £35.95 at dinner, and the vegetarian rodizio is £24.95 at lunch and £32.95 at dinner. Children under three eat free, 4 to 8 are £8.95 and 9 to 13 are £17.95, with one child per paying adult. A Pornstar Martini is £10.50.
It is not just the food that draws people in. The place has hosted Premier League footballers, including Manchester United's Antony, and there is a signed boot from Ronaldo on the wall. Once a month, on the last Friday at 19:00, Samba Night brings in live samba dancers, and there is a two-for-one cocktail offer Tuesday to Thursday from 16:00 to 18:00, though it does not run on bank holiday weekends or special dates. The room is decorated with Brazilian music playing in the background, so it feels the part.
A few practical notes before you go. Booking is not compulsory but it is strongly recommended, as the place gets very busy, especially at the weekend. It sits at 1 Micklegate, YO1 6JG, so it is easy to find in the centre. If you would rather book over the phone, the number is 01904 622737, and their website is casarodizio.co.uk. Between the awards, the football connection and the sheer amount of food on the table, it is a hard one to argue with for a big group meal.
