Third annual Halloween book swap where guests wrap a book and bring a themed treat to exchange, part of Bookshelf of Tampa Bay's 3rd Annual edition.
Angry Chair Brewing hosts the Trick & Treat Book Exchange on Thursday, October 22, from 7 PM to 9 PM, with doors opening at 6:50 PM. It's the third annual edition of the swap, a local Tampa tradition run by Bookmarked & Co. as part of Bookshelf of Tampa Bay.
The premise is a mix of a blind date with a book and a potluck. You bring a new or gently used book, wrap it so the cover is hidden, and write a short description on the wrapping to give the next person a hint at what's inside. Along with the book, you bring a themed treat that matches the vibe of the story. The event notes put it in plain terms: something sweet for a romance, something spicy for a thriller. You trade your wrapped book and your treat for someone else's, so you walk away with a new read and a snack to go with it.
Every week we pick ๐ the 5 best ๐ things to do in Tampa and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

It's a low-stakes way to find your next favorite book and meet some fellow readers in the neighborhood. If you're not sure what treat to bring, just think about the mood of the book you're swappingโthe sweeter or spookier the story, the more room you have to play with it. The whole thing is free, and there's free parking available at the brewery. Just keep in mind that the night is sold out, so if you've already got your spot, you're set for Thursday.
