Off-Broadway multi-media production that recreates the 1960s with live music, archival footage and theatrical lighting.
The Sixties Show comes to the Tampa Theatre on Tuesday, January 26, 2027. It's an award-winning, off-Broadway multimedia production from New York City that's been playing packed theaters and performing arts centers across North America.
The show is billed as part live concert, part time-travel ride, and the production describes itself as something other than a nostalgia tribute act. Instead, it recreates the 1960s with live music, archival footage and theatrical lighting, moving through the music, politics, pop culture and soul of the decade. Every note is performed live, with no backing tracks and no samples, using authentic 1960s-era gear and instrumentation right down to the mod wardrobe.
Because it's a multimedia production, the music doesn't stand alone. The archival footage and lighting work alongside the live band to place the songs in their original context, so you're seeing the era as much as you're hearing it. The production's focus is on the decade as a whole—the music, the politics and the pop culture—rather than just a sequence of hits.
