Beginner digital drawing course for teens aged 12 to 17 to explore Procreate and create art, comics and anime characters.
Teen Digital Studio is back at the Tampa Museum of Art on Wednesday, November 18, from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. It's a beginner-level course for teens aged 12 to 17, and it runs as part of the museum's Wednesday afternoon series. The whole point is to give younger artists a quiet, creative space to get comfortable with digital drawing using Procreate. With an instructor on hand to help, you'll work on your own art, comics, and anime characters. All the materials and equipment are provided, so you just need to show up.
It's worth keeping in mind where this is happening. The Tampa Museum of Art sits in downtown Tampa and works across ancient, modern, and contemporary art. Right now, the museum is in the middle of a Centennial Renovation & Expansion, which the Tampa Museum of Art Foundation announced to increase its exhibition and education space. The Teen Digital Studio is part of that educational side of things, and it's not the only age group they're looking after: the museum also runs Studio 55, an arts program funded by E.A. Michelson Philanthropy for adults 55 and older to learn new art-making techniques. Between the two, there's a pretty wide range of people making things under the same roof.

If you've got a teen who's into drawing but hasn't quite made the jump to digital, this is a low-pressure way to start. You don't need to bring your own tablet or software, and the beginner level means you can walk in without knowing your way around Procreate. The session runs from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 18, at the Tampa Museum of Art, 120 West Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa, FL 33602. It's $25.
