Tampa Roller Derby's annual home team championship, the Final Flockdown, followed by a Halloween Mashup Game with costumes.
Tampa Roller Derby brings its annual home team championship, The Final Flockdown, to Skateworld of Tampa on Friday, October 30. It's one of the league's biggest nights of the year, and for good reason: after a full season of rivalries, hard-fought victories, and the kind of moments that stick with you, the home teams meet for one final chance to claim the crown and the bragging rights for the year ahead.
Once the champion is crowned, the night doesn't end. It keeps going with a Halloween Mashup Game, a spooky showdown that throws skaters from across the league onto the track, and costumes are encouraged. Since it's the night before Halloween, it's a good excuse to lean into the theme.
Behind the games is Tampa Roller Derby itself, a skater-run, skater-operated, open-gender WFTDA league based right here in Tampa. They describe themselves as an inclusive space that doesn't tolerate harassment or bullying, and they're always looking for volunteers, medics, photographers, and officials to help keep things running.
