Free, over-18s bring-your-own-craft night to unwind, get creative and meet new neighbours in a low-pressure environment.
Tampa Make & Mingle is back at the Kate Jackson Community Center on Wednesday, October 21, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. It's a free, community-focused craft night run by Tampa Bae Social, and the whole point is to give people a place to unwind, get creative and meet new neighbors in a judgment-free, low-pressure environment. The bring-your-own-craft format means there's no instructor and no structured lesson: you just turn up with whatever project you're working on, whether that's journaling, scrapbooking, painting, knitting, crochet or DIY. If you've got a half-finished piece of embroidery or a sketchbook you've been meaning to get back to, this is the night to bring it out.
That's the beauty of the BYO setup—you aren't tied to one specific activity. You can spend the whole evening on your own thing, or you can look around and see what everyone else is making. It's as much about the people as it is about the crafting, and the lack of a formal class takes the pressure off. You don't have to worry about keeping up with a teacher or getting it "right"; you just show up and do your thing alongside other people doing theirs. The night is for over-18s only, and food and drinks are available to buy at the door, so you can grab a snack and a drink while you work.

Behind the night is Tampa Bae Social, which they started to help people find their community through shared experiences. This is one of those experiences: a simple, open space for people to hang out and create together. The event runs from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, with doors opening at 6:25 PM. It's free to attend, but registration is required and space is limited, so you'll want to sign up ahead of time. You'll find the Kate Jackson Community Center at 821 S. Rome Ave. in Tampa.
