Homeschool enrichment class for students ages 8-10 that explores physics through hands-on experiments.
MOSI is hosting SEED Ages 8-10: In the Physics Lab on Tuesday, February 2, 2027, with a second session on Thursday, February 4. Both run from 1 PM to 3 PM at the Museum of Science and Industry in Tampa. It's a two-hour physics lab for kids ages 8 to 10, built around hands-on experiments rather than just listening to a lecture. If your kid is at that age and likes to take things apart or figure out how they work, this is exactly the kind of afternoon they'd get into.
This is part of the SEED Days program, which MOSI runs as monthly enrichment classes for homeschoolers. The idea is to complement what you're already doing at home with a deep dive into a specific topic—in this case, physics—through exploration and doing. The sessions are for students only, so it's a chance for them to work through the experiments with other kids their age while you get a couple of hours to yourself.
Since it's a STEAM-focused class, the physics isn't taught in a vacuum; it sits alongside science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. The hands-on part is the main thing here, so expect them to be active rather than sitting at a desk. It's designed to be a practical addition to a homeschool curriculum, not a replacement for it.
