Charity catch-and-release fishing tournament with boat launch, angler's lunch and awards ceremony, benefiting the Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation and Tampa Port Ministries.
Port Tampa Bayslam returns to the Tampa Convention Center on Friday, November 6, for its tenth anniversary. It's a one-day catch-and-release charity fishing tournament that brings together around 45 boats and a mix of industry leaders, enthusiasts, and community members for a day on the water.
The event benefits two local causes: the Tampa Bay Maritime Scholarship Foundation and Tampa Port Ministries. The latter relies on its fundraising events to fund the majority of its Seafarers Center services, so the tournament does more than just put people on boats.
It's staged at the Port Tampa docks behind the Tampa Convention Center, with the waterfront serving as the backdrop for the whole day. The schedule stretches beyond the fishing itself: there's an angler's lunch the day before, a morning boat launch to get everyone out, and an awards ceremony on the upstairs patio to wrap things up. If the weather turns, the tournament moves to a later date.
