Immersive 360-degree dome experience presenting all 10 tracks of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon with 8K visuals.
Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon comes to the Holloway Digital Dome Theatre at MOSI on Sunday, October 18. It's not a concert in the usual sense—there's no band on stage. Instead, the experience plays all ten tracks from The Dark Side of the Moon in order, paired with 360-degree visuals that surround you from every angle. NSC Creative put it together, and they developed it with Aubrey Powell, a longtime creative partner of the band. They describe it as a full sensory journey, and more than a million people worldwide have seen it. It's presented separately from the museum's Laser Light Show series.
For a bit of context, Pink Floyd formed in London in 1965 and went on to become one of the most influential acts in music history, with over 250 million albums sold worldwide. The Dark Side of the Moon is one of their most recognized records, and this show lets it run from start to finish, so you hear the whole thing in one sitting.
The venue is part of the draw here. The Holloway Digital Dome Theatre houses the Saunders Planetarium and uses 8K image technology projected onto a 10,000-square-foot curved screen inside the museum's eight-story-tall blue dome. That's where the 360-degree visuals come in—they wrap around you rather than staying on a flat screen in front of you. It's a big space, and the scale is a good fit for the kind of immersive experience they're going for.
