A three-hour workshop where participants discover how inventions affect daily life and create a working prototype, led by BSA-certified counselors.
MOSI is hosting a Merit Badge Workshop: Inventing on Sunday, November 15, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's a three-hour session where scouts look at how inventions shape daily life and then build a working prototype of their own. The workshop covers BSA Merit Badge requirements 1, 2, 3c, and 9, and participants work toward 3abd, 4, 5, 6a-c, 7, and 8.
The session is led by experienced counselors registered with the Boy Scouts of America, all trained by the museum, BSA-certified, and completed in BSA Youth Protection training, each with a background in a STEM field. The $21 fee per scout covers the hands-on activities and materials, access to digital workbooks, and a blank Blue Card. After the workshop, that same admission gets you into MOSI for the rest of the day, so you can hang around and see the exhibits once the work is done.

If you're bringing a scout under 13, they need to be accompanied by an adult chaperone—at least one adult for every ten scouts. Registration closes on Thursday, October 29, so you'll want to get your spot sorted well before the workshop date. It's $21 per scout, and the whole thing runs from 10 AM to 1 PM at MOSI in Tampa.
