Merit badge workshop where scouts learn how engineers use science and technology to create inventions.
MOSI is hosting an Engineering Merit Badge Workshop on Saturday, February 6, 2027, from 10 AM to 2 PM. It's a one-day session at the Museum of Science & Industry in Tampa, and it's built around the Engineering merit badge.
The workshop is designed for scouts to get a hands-on look at how engineers work. The core of the day is about how they use science and technology to create inventions, so it's less about reading from a manual and more about seeing the process in action. If you've got a scout who's already curious about how things are built or how a simple idea turns into a working gadget, this is exactly the kind of thing that lets them pull it apart and see for themselves. It's a good way to knock out a significant chunk of the badge requirements in a single morning rather than stretching it over several weeks.
Since it's a four-hour block, it's a full morning's commitment. You'll be at MOSI for the whole thing, from 10 AM until 2 PM, so it's a good idea to plan your day around that. It's a Saturday, which makes it a bit easier to fit in without worrying about school the next morning.
Every week we pick 🏆 the 5 best 🏆 things to do in Tampa and send them to your inbox. Just one weekly email, no spam.

Registration is $28 per scout and $7 per adult, and if you're a MOSI member, those prices drop to $21 per scout and $5 per adult. You can sign up through the museum's shop site.
