Overnight camp-in for scouts to earn the Emergency Preparedness merit badge by spending a night in a mock hurricane shelter at MOSI.
MOSI is hosting a Merit Badge Camp-in: Emergency Preparedness on Saturday, May 22, 2027, from 7 PM through Sunday morning, May 23. It's a sleepover for scouts that turns the museum into a mock hurricane shelter while a storm heads toward the Tampa Bay area, so the kids spend the night learning how to prepare for and survive a natural disaster in a setting that mimics the real thing.
The camp-in centers on the Emergency Preparedness merit badge workshop, and scouts walk away with the badge. Along with the workshop, the registration covers a light snack, overnight accommodation at MOSI, a light breakfast the next morning, and a MOSI Fun Patch for the scouts. On Sunday, the experience extends into a full day at the museum, as the ticket includes general admission for the following morning.
