Sunday ceramic glazing workshop for students taught by Emily Serrano, with materials included.
Emily Serrano is leading a ceramic glazing workshop at the Tampa Museum of Art on Sunday, October 25. It's a hands-on session for students, and the museum provides all the materials, so you don't need to bring your own supplies to get started.
Glazing is the part of the process where you apply a glass-like coating to a piece of pottery before it goes back into the kiln for a final firing. It's what gives ceramics their color, shine, and water-resistance, and it's often the most creative part of the whole thing. Serrano will be guiding the group through that stage, so you'll spend the morning working with glazes and learning how they behave on the clay.
The workshop runs from 10 AM to 1 PM, and it's one of two dates scheduled—the other is December 13. If you're just starting out, having the materials included makes it an easy way to try it without buying a whole set of supplies first. It's a student-focused class, so it's built for people who are there to learn rather than those who already have a studio set up at home.
