Screening of the horror-comedy 'Forbidden Fruits', produced by Diablo Cody and starring Lili Reinhart and Victoria Pedretti, at the Tampa Theatre.
Forbidden Fruits screens at the Tampa Theatre on Thursday, October 29, as part of the A Nightmare on Franklin Street series presented by Bank of America. It's a comedy horror directed by Meredith Alloway and produced by Diablo Cody, and it's playing in the John T. Taylor Screening Room.
The story takes place in an alternate reality where brick-and-mortar retail still exists. Three glamorous women, all named after fruits, work in a high-end mall clothing store, but the shop is just a cover: they rob their customers and hold snappy, Gen-Z-tinted rituals in the basement. Drawing on the 'coven-core' canon of The Craft, The Bling Ring, and Mean Girls, the trio tries to indoctrinate a new hire, only to fall victim to their own desires and spells. It's described as tightly layered with references and candy-sweet yet nostalgic.
The cast is a big part of the draw. Lili Reinhart, Lola Tung, Victoria Pedretti, Alexandra Shipp, Emma Chamberlain, and Gabrielle Union all appear in it. The film first hit cinemas on March 27, 2026, so this is a chance to catch it on the big screen if you missed it during its initial run.
