Book launch of 'Final 9' by author Barbara Gene Cardin at Itimpi Bookstore, with books available to buy on the day.
Barbara Gene Cardin is launching her new novel, Final 9, at Itimpi Bookstore on Saturday, November 7, from 1 PM to 2 PM. It's a bookstore launch, so the afternoon is built around the book itself.
Final 9 follows Ella, an online poker grinder who makes her name in the poker world after a breakout run and a very public bet. It's contemporary fiction, and the poker angle isn't just window dressing—the whole thing revolves around the high-stakes world Ella is navigating. If you've never played a hand in your life, it's still a story about a breakout run and the public attention that follows it.
Cardin is a Florida native, a semi-professional poker player, and an avid traveler, and she draws on her own high-stakes experiences to shape her stories. This isn't her first time at the table, either: Final 9 is part of her Poker Player Metamorphosis series, which began with her debut novel, Butterfly9. Between the two, she's built a body of work centered on the world she knows from the inside.
