World premiere screening of Joe Davison's horror-comedy Demon Queen Pinball Machine, shot on location in Tampa, followed by a post-film panel with the filmmaker, cast and crew.
Demon Queen Pinball Machine has its world premiere at the Historic Duncan Auditorium in the Tampa Theatre on Thursday, October 29. It's a horror-comedy from independent horror filmmaker Joe Davison, who also stars in one of the lead roles. The screening is part of the 'A Nightmare on Franklin Street' series, presented by Bank of America.
The plot is exactly what the title suggests: two broke video-store heroes take on the delivery of a vintage pinball machine, unaware it's possessed by a bloodthirsty revenge spirit known as the Demon Queen. Once it's plugged in, she goes on a quarter-eating rampage. Davison says he wanted to capture the wild, practical-FX-driven energy of late-80s horror comedies, and the whole thing was shot on location right here in Tampa, using local talent. It's rated R, so keep that in mind if you're bringing anyone younger.
After the movie, the night keeps going. There's a panel and Q&A with Davison, Francesco S. Viola, Renee Daw, Elissa Dowling, and Mike Ferguson, so you'll get to hear from the filmmaker, the cast, and the crew about how it came together. The post-film talk is sponsored by Hungry Bull Productions and the Restaino Family Foundation.
