Hands-on science session for preschoolers that uses stories, songs and experiments to explore how sounds are made.
MOSI is hosting Curious Kids: Sound Science on Wednesday, December 2, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM. It's a 90-minute hands-on science session built for preschoolers, and this particular one focuses on sound. The whole morning is centered on how sounds are made, and the kids explore it through instruments and experiments. The session weaves stories, songs, and activities around that theme, so it's more of a guided adventure than a lecture.
One of the better parts for parents is how it's set up: you can either stay and work alongside your child the whole time or take a break and explore the rest of the museum while they're occupied. If you're not already familiar, MOSI is a hands-on science center in Tampa built for interactive learning and playful exploration. It holds a mix of permanent and rotating exhibits and is home to the Saunders Planetarium, which is billed as the second-largest digital dome planetarium in the country.
Curious Kids is a monthly series, so this is just one of several themes they run throughout the year. Each session takes a different science topic and builds a morning around it with the same mix of stories, songs, and experiments. If your kid likes to take things apart or ask why things work the way they do, this is exactly the kind of thing they're for.
