Preschool STEAM class for children aged 3 to 5 to explore animal habitats, coverings and movement through hands-on activities.
Curious Kids: Animal Explorers comes to MOSI on Wednesday, November 4, as part of the museum's Curious Kids preschool program. It's a STEAM class for kids aged 3 to 5, and this particular session focuses on animals—their habitats, their coverings, and how they move.
The class is built around a science theme that ties into literature, and the whole thing is hands-on. The kids make predictions, test them to see what happens, and then share what they found. It's a good way to introduce the scientific process to preschoolers without it feeling like a lecture; they're doing the work themselves rather than just watching someone else do it. The animal theme gives them a concrete starting point, too—looking at where different animals live and how their bodies are built for those environments.
One thing that makes this easier for parents is the flexibility. You can stay and join in on the activities with your child, or you can take a break and explore the rest of the museum while they're in class. Either way, the session runs from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, so it's a mid-morning thing that fits into a typical preschool schedule.

It's part of a larger monthly series of STEAM enrichment classes for preschoolers at MOSI, so if your kid takes to this one, there are more to follow. A few practical details to keep in mind: pre-registration and payment are required at least two weeks in advance, so you'll want to get your spot early. The class is $15 for non-members and $10 for MOSI members.
