Hands-on workshop to make a Coptic Stitch bound journal from handmade and printed papers, with all supplies included.
Coptic Stitch Journal Making is coming to 211 South Howard Ave in the South Howard neighborhood on Saturday, October 24, from 2:00 to 4:30 PM. It's a hands-on workshop where you build your own journal from the ground up, and the focus is on Coptic stitch binding—one of the earliest forms of bookbinding and one of the first basic techniques most bookmakers learn.
Over the course of the afternoon, you'll work through the whole process. You'll start by crafting a cover from handmade and printed papers, then move on to folding signatures—the groups of pages that make up a book—and stitching them together. The result is a hard-covered journal with an exposed spine, the kind of thing you can use for sketches, pressed flowers, special notes, or your favorite quotes. There's a personal touch added with partial signature covers that let the cover design run through to the inside of the journal.

It runs from 2:00 to 4:30 PM at 211 South Howard Ave in Tampa.
