Clutch play The RITZ Ybor on 7th Avenue in Tampa, with support from Slomosa and Blood Vulture.
Clutch play The Ritz Ybor on Tuesday, October 20, as part of their US fall tour. They're bringing along Slomosa and Blood Vulture to open the night, so it's a full bill rather than just the headliner.
If you're not familiar, Clutch is a four-piece from Germantown, Maryland. The members—Neil Fallon on vocals and guitar, Tim Sult on lead guitar, Dan Maines on bass, and Jean-Paul Gaster on drums—were classmates at Seneca Valley High School and have been playing together for more than three decades. They come from the same region that produced Bad Brains, Minor Threat, and Rites Of Spring, and you can hear that in their sound: jams built on hardcore fury and fuzzy, athletic stoner rock.
They've been releasing music since 1991, working through major labels and indies before starting their own imprint, Weathermaker, in 2009. That adds up to 13 studio albums over the years. On the road, they've toured with Slayer, System Of A Down, and Marilyn Manson, and more recently co-headlined with Dropkick Murphys, Killswitch Engage, and Mastodon. Critics have pointed to Earth Rocker from 2013, Psychic Warfare from 2015, and Book of Bad Decisions from 2018 as some of the best rock albums of the 2010s.
