Recurring jam night held every third Tuesday at the New World Biergarten, where the Rod Alnord Quartet opens the floor for anyone with an instrument.
The Rod Alnord Quartet are back at New World Tampa on Tuesday, October 20, for the Chops Jam Session. It's a recurring night that happens every third Tuesday at the New World Biergarten, and this is the next one in the series.
The quartet is led by Rod Alnord on drums, with Ross Strauser on sax, Ruben Davila on bass, and T.J. Schaff on keys. They act as the house band for the evening, which means they open the floor and set the pace for the night. From there, the session is open: anyone who comes along with their own instrument is invited to jump in and play. If you've been practicing something at home and want to get it out in front of people, this is a good place to do it.
Because it's a jam session, the night is open to all ages, so it's as much for the younger players as it is for the regulars. It runs for about three hours, from 8 PM to 11 PM, which gives plenty of room for a few different rotations of people on stage. You can come just to listen, or you can bring your gear and take a turn.
