Wine masterclass led by Chapel Down winemaker James McLean, tasting four English sparkling wines.
Chapel Down is bringing one of its own to Tampa for a masterclass at Chateau Cellars on Thursday, October 22. Winemaker James McLean will be leading the session, which runs from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
Over the course of the ninety minutes, you'll taste through four of the house's sparkling wines: Chapel Down Brut, Chapel Down Brut Rosé, the 2019 Kit's Coty Blanc de Blancs, and the 2019 Brut Grand Reserve. The whole thing is an insider's look at English sparkling wine, which is one of the fastest-growing wine categories in England. McLean will talk through the region's distinctive maritime climate and the vineyards of Kent, and walk you through the Traditional Method of winemaking.
As the evening goes on, he'll share firsthand insight into the technical side of things: grape selection, vintage variation, blending, fermentation, maturation, and the winemaking philosophy behind each bottle. It's a chance to hear about the process from the person actually making the wine rather than just reading a label. The session is for ages 21 and over.
