Skateboard art show featuring 99 original pieces by various artists, with live music performances, as part of the 32nd annual Tampa Am.
Push Art is taking over The Bricks in Ybor City on Friday, October 16, as part of the 32nd annual Tampa Am. It's a skateboard art show curated by Matt Mewis in collaboration with Skatepark of Tampa, Tampa Am, and Shapes Skateboard Distribution. Mewis started it to showcase the friends who've influenced him creatively over the years—skateboarders, filmmakers, graphic designers, photographers, musicians, and painters.
The show brings together 99 original pieces of skateboard art from artists across the country, including Brett Land, Grant Gunderdson, Jason Rockhill, Conrad Garner, Lesha Porche, and Mike Pissari. A portion of each board sale goes to Boards for Bros, a 501(c)(3) non-profit that's been collecting and refurbishing skateboards for kids who can't afford their own since 2006. So if you end up taking a board home, some of that money goes toward getting another one into a kid's hands.
It's not just a gallery night, either. There's a live lineup playing throughout the evening: Lychee Camp, Mirror Parts, Atomic Treehouse, Jask, Mr Marley, and Layne Fox. Between the art on the walls and the music, it's a full night rather than a quick walk-through.

The whole thing is part of the 32nd annual Tampa Am, the global amateur championship that started as a small local contest in 1995 and grew into a proving ground for future legends like Nyjah Huston, Felipe Gustavo, Luan Oliveira, and Dashawn Jordan. Push Art is one of the events that happens around the competition.
It's a free event at The Bricks YBOR, 1327 E 7th Ave, Tampa, FL 33605, starting at 7:30 PM.
