The shop has served the Tampa Bay area since 2003. Co-founders Julie and Chad opened it in a former gas station on Bayshore Boulevard in South Tampa and moved to the current location in 2007. The shop celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2023. The founders' parents, horticulturalists Evie and John Burks, grew citrus in the 1970s and owned a wholesale foliage nursery in the 1980s and 1990s, so plants have been part of the family for a long time.
The plant selection is wide. You can find indoor and outdoor plants, palms, air plants, cacti and succulents, ferns, orchids, bromeliads, herbs, vegetables and potted plants. The shop says its houseplants come from Florida greenhouses. Pottery and planters are a big part of the store too, including the Blobhouse Planters, along with planter accessories and plant care products. If you prefer something ready to give, there are gift items, decorations, garden sculptures, paper goods, dried and preserved botanicals, and spa and wellness products. Gift cards are also available.
Bloom also sells living plant arrangements made to order. The featured ones have these prices: The Lovely Lila ($115), The Blue Falls (from $115), The Caliente Mama ($120), The Wounder Queen (from $105), The Lady Lake ($78), The Palma Ceia ($260), The Gabby ($140) and The White Sands ($156). For smaller gifts, the greeting cards, such as the Radical Gnome, Happy Mother's Day Flowers, Beautiful Flower and Birthday Goddess cards, cost $6.00 each. The shop has a Potting Bar and offers one-on-one workshops, including orchid arrangement workshops, so you can make something yourself.
If you do not want to carry plants home, Bloom offers local delivery in South Tampa to zip codes 33606, 33611, 33629 and 33609, with prices starting at $30. The shop also offers an in-house planting service and residential and commercial offsite container garden design. Gift cards can be bought online, in the store or by phone at 813-805-2151.
The shop is open Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Hours can change, so it is worth checking the store locator page before you go.
