Book launch of 'Mapping Missouri: A History of the Show-Me State in 40 Rare Maps' by Andrew W. Hahn at the Campbell House Museum, with light hors d'oeuvres and Roman Punch.
Andrew W. Hahn is launching his new book, Mapping Missouri: A History of the Show-Me State in 40 Rare Maps, at the Campbell House Museum on Sunday, October 18. It's a book launch in the most literal sense: the author will be there in person to mark the release of the volume.
The book takes the state's history and tells it through maps. Hahn has selected 40 rare maps to chart Missouri's growth from its geological formation millions of years ago right up to the present day. If you've ever wondered how the state's borders shifted or how the landscape changed over the centuries, this is the kind of thing that puts those changes on a page you can actually follow. It's a long view of the place—from the deep time of the earth to the Missouri we recognize today.
There's a nice bit of local connection here, too. Hahn is a historian and museum professional, a seventh-generation Missourian who's been passionate about history and maps his entire life. Since 2003, he's served as director of the Campbell House Museum, the 1851 townhouse in downtown St. Louis where the launch is being held. This is his second book; his first, Mapping St. Louis, came out in 2024, so Mapping Missouri expands that same approach to the whole state.

It's a social afternoon, not just a reading. There will be light hors d'oeuvres and Roman Punch to keep things easy while you browse the new book and talk with the author. The launch is on Sunday, October 18, at the Campbell House Museum in St. Louis.
