Free half-day of interactive guided gallery tours, hands-on workshops, storytelling and a craft room for schools and homeschool families at the Missouri History Museum.
History Exploration Days return to the Missouri History Museum on Friday, November 13, from 10 AM to 1 PM. It's one of those half-day sessions the Missouri Historical Society puts on for schools and homeschool families, and it's free to attend.
If you're not familiar with how these work, each session focuses on a different topic in St. Louis history, with a new one every month from September through May. The morning is built around a few different things: interactive guided gallery tours, hands-on workshops, and community performances. There's storytelling for all ages to start the morning, and a craft room run by museum educators that stays open throughout the session. It's designed so kids can spend a few hours working through a piece of local history rather than just glancing at it.
The museum itself sits in Forest Park at 5700 Lindell Blvd, and it's worth remembering what's there beyond the day's specific program. It holds permanent exhibits on the 1904 World's Fair, St. Louis history, and Charles A. Lindbergh, along with special exhibitions that rotate throughout the year. If you're already there for the session, you can easily wander into those when you're done.
