Guided 1.5-mile nature walk through Bellerive and Sister Marie Charles Parks along the Mississippi River, led by an MDC naturalist.
A Walk in the Park comes to Bellerive Park on Friday, October 23, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. It's a guided walk led by the Missouri Department of Conservation, and this particular session takes you through Bellerive and Sister Marie Charles Parks along the banks of the Mississippi River.
The walk covers 1.5 miles, and you'll be accompanied by an MDC naturalist who points out what you might otherwise walk right past. The focus is on the natural side of things—seasonal plants and local wildlife—but it's not just about the biology. The naturalist also talks through the cultural and historical significance of the space, so you get a sense of how the park fits into the city's larger story.
This is one stop in a broader series. A Walk in the Park is a guided program designed for all ages and abilities, with each session highlighting a different park and its own set of natural features. It sits alongside the free nature classes the department offers to outdoor lovers of all ages and abilities, most of which require registration. If you have a disability, they ask that you email the instructor when signing up to discuss any accommodations you might need.
