Live music gig by the Limerick band Theatre, blending ethereal rock, folk and shoegaze, at Heartbreakers.
Theatre play Heartbreakers on Wednesday 14 October, their set taking place in the venue's upstairs space. They're a five-piece alt-rock band from Limerick, and the sound they've built sits somewhere between ethereal rock, folk and shoegaze, with singer Maeve O'Shea's emotive vocals leading the way. It's a combination that pulls in a few different directions at once — the folk side keeps it grounded, the shoegaze brings the wash of sound, and the ethereal rock ties it together.
They're described as a rising UK indie/alternative outfit, and their live sets are built around atmospheric guitar soundscapes, punchy rhythms and dynamic vocals. The atmospheric side comes from those layered guitars, while the punchy rhythms keep things moving, and O'Shea's vocals provide the melodic focus. It's a set that moves between those textures rather than sticking to one mood, and the whole thing is staged in Heartbreakers' signature upstairs space.
