A play in which a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street right out of suburbia and transports the neighbourhood to some unknown place.
The End of Oak Street is playing at Showcase Cinema De Lux Southampton this week, having opened on Tuesday 1 September. It's a play that takes a familiar suburban street and rips it right out of its neighbourhood, transporting it to some unknown place. The Platt family find themselves at the centre of it, and they soon discover that their survival depends on sticking together as they navigate surroundings that have become completely unrecognisable.
It's the kind of story that starts with a single, strange event and then watches how a family holds up when everything they knew about where they lived is gone. The focus stays on the Platts as they figure out how to get by in a place that doesn't make any sense, with the bond between them being the only thing they can actually rely on.
Showings run from Friday to Thursday, with the first starting at 11:30 and the last at 19:10. The times shift slightly across the week: Friday to Monday run 11:30 to 19:00, Tuesday is 11:50 to 19:20, and Wednesday and Thursday are 11:40 to 19:10. You'll find the cinema on Level 4 of the West Quay Shopping Centre, SO15 1QF.
