Horror film about a filmmaker investigating a slasher franchise and its reclusive original star.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma opens at Harbour Lights Picturehouse on Friday 19 September, and it's staying on the screen through to Thursday 8 October, so you've got a few weeks to catch it if you can't make the opening weekend.
It's a horror film from director Jane Schoenbrun, and the plot is a bit of a meta-take on the slasher genre. The story follows the Camp Miasma franchise, which has spent years churning out slapdash sequels while the fandom slowly dried up. The series is handed over to Hannah Einbinder, an enthusiastic young director who takes the lead on the next instalment. When she tracks down the original movie's star, Gillian Anderson, now a reclusive actress shrouded in mystery, the two women fall into a blood-soaked world of desire, fear and delirium.
That's the core of it, but the cast around them is worth noting. Alongside Anderson and Einbinder, the film features Dylan Baker, Patrick Fischler, Zach Cherry and Eva Victor. If you recognise Anderson from The X-Files or Sex Education, you'll see her here in a very different sort of role — the reclusive star who's gone off the grid, only to be pulled back into the world of the franchise that made her.

It's a 15, so it's not for the younger crowd, and it runs for 112 minutes. With the run going from 19 September to 8 October, there's plenty of room to fit it in whenever suits you best.
