Stand-up comedy night featuring Jack Skipper, Dan Evans and Kazeem Jamal, hosted by MC Colin Owens at Papillon.
Stand Up in the Basement returns to Papillon on Friday 18 September, with Jack Skipper, Dan Evans and Kazeem Jamal on the bill. It's part of the club's regular run โ they usually put on a Friday night in Southampton, with the odd midweek show thrown in. The night is hosted by MC Colin Owens, who keeps things moving between the acts.
There's a bit of a range on the line-up. Dan Evans is an off-beat comic known for surreal takes on everyday subjects, and he's a respected writer too: he's penned material for Milton Jones, Mickey Flanagan, Zoe Lyons and Frankie Boyle, with credits including Frankie Boyle's New World Order, Thanks a Lot, Milton Jones! and The Eleven O'Clock Show. Kazeem Jamal is one of the UK's more exciting emerging comedians, with television credits including Comedy Central Live and appearances across BBC platforms and the MOBO Awards. And then there's South Londoner Jack Skipper, who went from carpet fitter to comedy sensation, gathering over 19 million TikTok likes and coming runner-up in So You Think You're Funny?.
The night follows a three-act format โ opening, middle and headline comics โ and the bars are open before, during and after the show. Stand Up in the Basement is Southampton's Friday-night stand-up comedy club, bringing club-style bills to independent venues across the city. Past performers have included Jeff Innocent and Phil Wang.
