Stand-up comedy club night with three top-billed acts, Horatio Gould, Markus Birdman and Hal Cruttenden, hosted by MC Colin Owens, at Papillon.
Papillon hosts a stand-up comedy night on Friday 24 July, part of Stand Up in the Basement, a club-style series that brings comedy to independent venues across Southampton. The bill features three top-billed acts, with compere Colin Owens running the evening.
Owens has been on the UK comedy circuit since 2005 and won the Jimmy Carr Comedy Idol Competition, so he's a safe pair of hands to hold the night together. The main line-up starts with Horatio Gould, a stand-up, writer and podcaster who co-hosts Fin VS History and has sold out runs at the Edinburgh Fringe. Next up is Markus Birdman, who made the semi-finals of Britain's Got Talent, was nominated for Chortle's Best Club Comic in 2023 and has appeared on Netflix's Live From Amsterdam. The third act is Hal Cruttenden, a regular on television with multiple appearances on Live at the Apollo and The Royal Variety Performance.
Between them, you've got a Fringe regular, a Britain's Got Talent semi-finalist and a Live at the Apollo veteran, all on one bill. It's a proper club night rather than a single name carrying the whole thing, so you get three distinct sets in one go.
