A screening of the 1986 Queen concert film 'Queen Budapest', remastered in 4K, at Harbour Lights Picturehouse.
Queen Budapest comes to Harbour Lights Picturehouse on Wednesday 7 October, starting at 8pm. It's a screening of the concert film from 27 July 1986, when Queen played the Népstadion in Budapest before 80,000 fans as part of the Magic Tour, the band's last tour with Freddie Mercury. The film has been rescanned and remastered in 4K with a new audio mix, and the set includes Bohemian Rhapsody, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, I Want To Break Free and We Are The Champions.
There's a bit of history to this one. With three years to go before the fall of the Berlin Wall, it was the first Western rock concert performed in a stadium behind the Iron Curtain. The Hungarian authorities and the film industry brought together the country's top cameramen and technicians to film it, and that's the footage you'll see on screen. It's a look at the band in a moment that felt like a first for the time, and it's the last tour they did with Mercury.
