A poetry reading featuring the avant-garde, challenging, queer and radical work of Rosy Carrick and Kat Sinclair.
Rosy Carrick and Kat Sinclair are reading at The Bookshop Alehouse on Thursday 1 October, as part of the Placeholder Poetry series. It's the ninth instalment of the night, and the two of them are sharing the bill.
What they're bringing is poetry they describe as avant-garde, challenging, queer and radical. It's not the kind of reading that sits still — the avant-garde side suggests work that plays with form and pushes against the usual way poems are put together, and the queer and radical labels point to the ground they're working from. Between the two of them, that's a fair bit of territory to cover in one evening.
If you've followed the Placeholder Poetry nights before, you'll know the format: a few poets taking turns to read their work aloud, one after the other. This time it's Carrick and Sinclair, each bringing their own voice to the bill. The description doesn't shy away from the more difficult side of things, so it's the kind of night that asks you to lean in and listen rather than just let it wash over you.
