Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is screening at Showcase Cinema De Lux in Southampton, with a showing on Thursday 13 August. It's the first film in the franchise, so if you've only seen the later ones, this is where the story starts.

On screen, Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) brave the Caribbean Sea to stop a ship of pirates led by Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush). It's a yarn that comes from the director of Mousehunt, and it's the one that put the whole series on the map.

If Thursday doesn't work, there are other times to choose from: Sunday at 16:00 and Wednesday at 19:10. The cinema is Showcase Cinema De Lux, Level 4, West Quay Shopping Centre, Southampton, SO15 1QF, right in the middle of the shopping centre, so it's an easy one to get to.

Standard tickets are £8.90 to £11.40, with OAP and NUS tickets between £7.95 and £8.95, under-15s from £7.45 to £7.95, and military tickets £7.50 with valid ID. There's a gallery option at £16.40 and family tickets for £30. XPlus films add £3, 3D films add £2, and 3D glasses are £1.
